MELBOURNE COMEDY FESTIVAL ROADSHOW PDF Print E-mail

Saturday 29th May, 8PM & Sunday 30th May, 7PM
Bolstered by roars of laughter and the unbridled adoration of audiences during their Melbourne seasons, a bunch of Australian and international comedians will cram healthy egos into tiny suitcases and hit the highways of this mighty continent. For the first time, Queens Park Theatre brings Geraldton the Melbourne Comedy Festival through simulcast. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) is the third-largest international comedy festival in the world and the largest cultural event in Australia. The MICF plays host to hundreds of local and international artists; in 2008 its programme listed 1,765 performers in 298 separate shows. Although it is mainly a vehicle for stand-up and cabaret acts, the festival has also included, sketch shows, plays, improvisational theatre, debates, musical shows and art exhibitions. It is generally regarded as the least commercial and most relaxed of the three major comedy festivals. Now in it's 11th year, the Roadshow shares the Comedy Festival vibe with punters outside the Melbourne area code. From Ararat, to Wagga Wagga, Alice Springs to Whyalla, a cast of big local names, newcomers, and overseas guests prove there's no where a comedian fears to tread."The Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow has such chalk and cheese personalities delivering such a wide assortment of gags, it has everyone's humour covered" The Sunday Times, WA.
